72-Hour Bug Out Bag

72-Hour Bug Out Bag #

A Bug-Out Bag keeps you supplied until you can reach a bug-out location. At minimum, it should contain food, water, and clothing for 72-hours. This bag is more comprehensive than a go or get-home bag, because it contains preparedness items, such as fire starters, first-aid supplies, cash, a hygiene kit, multitools, and so on. It will weigh more, so you must choose wisely what to put in it, based on the journey you may make. A bug-out location isn’t necessarily a survival cabin somewhere. For many, it’s the home of a family member, or a place less affected by disaster.

Sometimes the term “bug-out bag” is incorrectly used to mean “go-bag” or “get-home bag”. When packing your own kits, it is important to understand the distinctions between them.
